Ted's Testimony
I greet all of you in the name of Jesus. For by only that name I sit here and write this testimony. I pray for the broken hearted, ones that are reading this right now. All things are possible through Jesus Christ.
One year before I was brought to this great family of Christ, I was at my lowest point. At 17 years old, I was asked to leave my home, I was told since I had a good job, there was no need for my parents to help me any longer. Plus I didn't fit in to well, I was always the black sheep of the family I felt like a stranger there and never knew why.
So I wasn't to brokenhearted over it. My family wasn't the kind that you would say was the best. It felt like a weight was lifted off of me, when I left.
In my eyes, I was free, and I was happy to be on my own. Later, I would realized that I was heading down a dark lonelier road. That would lead me to drugs, alcohol and homelessness, and suicide a temps.
One day, I meet an old friend from school, and we started talking, and just catching up on old times. I decided to move in the same neighborhood, to stay in contact. She came from work one day with a gentlemen, that wanted to have a biblestudy with us. I agreed, because, what I had at the time, I thought it would help the poor man. Boy was I way off. He began telling me about the plan of salvation, I had it in my mind to ignore everything that he was telling me, because I thought he was wrong. I got mad, and left the room, I told him to leave, and take his false doctrine with him.
It was hard to get rid of him, because him and my friend, decided to date. So he was always around alot, talking about the word. I didn't what to hear it. He invited me to his church, and I said yes. Only to prove to the Pastor, what he was teaching was false. So I went there, prideful as can be. I didn't clap my hands, I didn't even give an A-men.
At the end of the service, the Pastor came to me, and said something 3 times. " Ted are you going to believe men or the bible". I replied, " The bible". After the third time he asked me that, it was revealed to me, at that very moment, that I was believing what others were saying, and not what the bible really says.
For three months I was in a war, I was going to my church and to my friends church trying to find answers. At the end of the three months, I had it in my mind, that this was to hard, and the Lord doesn't want me. So I gave up, and didn't know what road to take.
I told my friend, I don't what to hear about Jesus anymore, that he doesn't work in our time anymore. My friend told me that "those are strong words and the Lord is going to humble you". And again I replied, "the Lord doesn't work in our time anymore.
One week later, my life changed to bad to worse. In one week, I lost my vehicle, my apartment, and my job. All in one week. I found myself walking down a dark street, going to go to sleep in my buddies car. It was a 2 hour walk. So I looked up to the sky and said, Jesus, is it you. Is it you that has took everything from me. Why won't you talk to me, hear my cry, I have no one. My family won't even take me in. Why are you doing this to me.
The next day I went to the Pentecostal church, I could of went to mine, but there was something pulling me, to this one. I remember like it was yesterday. I sat way in the back, praise and worship started, then the preaching of the word went forth. Then the alter service. Then it happened, I heard from my friend about the Holy ghost, and they talked about it alot, and when I heard it for the first time, it was the Pastor's wife. She gave an interpretation with tongues. And what was said would change my life forever.
She said," IF YOU WANT TO SEE MY POWER, HUMBLE YOURSELF AND FOLLOW ME.
And immediately when she had said that, I was reminded of my prayer for the night before.
And the revelation came to me, that this is how the Lord communicates with his people. Through the preaching of the word, or interpretation with tongues, or however he choose. 3 weeks later I was baptized in Jesus name(Acts 2:38) and 2 months later I got the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues(acts 2:1-4.) That was nine years ago. Jesus has rescued me. I would of never of guessed 9 years ago, I would be helping in Sunday school, singing in the church for God's people, and living a Godly life. But through him, he made it possible. You just have to be that willing vessel for him. And he will change your life as he did for me. I hope this was a blessing to you.
